Order1 and Order2 by Atul

Atul ordered ten (10) pieces of MyCupcakes for her own makan-makan and requested for a black and red theme and that she left all the decoration to me. As we are all aware, cash deposit machines still does not accept the new plastic RM5 note, so her friend banked in RM30 for her and I was supposed to refund RM5 to her on the day of pick up (which I did prepare and even put the same in a Raya angpow packet). But I forgot to pass it to her friend who came to pick up the cupcakes on her behalf and she too forgot to remind her friend of the same.

So sweet Atul said that since a friend would be celebrating a birthday the week after, she said she would order the same amount with the same deco and that means she just need to top RM20 for the order which is just fine by me.

So here they are:

Order1

Order2 (the week after)

Thanks Atul for the order.
Was nice taking orders from you...

happy bday Joelle Chong

Erwin's friend, Bernard Chong called me and told me he wanted to order fifty (50) pieces of MyCupcakes to celebrate his 3 year old daughter Joelle's birthday.

He called me while I was on the way to my office and I said I could take his order and then later on when I checked my yahoo mail, there was also one order from a Sharon Chong wanting to order same no of MyCupcakes and was also meant for Joelle... coincidence? Apparently Sharon, was Bernard's sis who e mailed me first prior to Bernard's call...

So here they are:

Bernard told me that Joelle loves Barney and I had some extra edible images and thought it'd be nice to give to her as our bday gift to her.

Enjoy the pictures!
Thanks Bernard and Sharon for the order.

Happy birthday Joelle from Uncle Erwin, Aunty Anor and bro Emir!

Cupcakes for bazaar

Wani text-ed me (also on behalf of her friends) about wanting to order some of MyCupcakes to be sold at a mini bazaar at Unimas as part of their final project and I said ok and we had the details worked out.

When Wani asked me whether deposit can be placed instead of paying full payment, I strictly answered that full payment must be made to confirm booking and that this is to avoid last min cancellation/non pick up and so I may have sounded a tad too strict vide my sms... which I can be sometimes even if I didnt mean it to sound that way... Blame it on my my legal background? Anyhow we have worked it out and she paid me in full and I apologised to Wani and friends in the event my sms did sounded a bit too strict and that I did not in any way intend to hurt anyone's feeling. Even gave extra free cupcakes for the girls =)

I do understand that there is "trust" issues involved when making payment to an unknown party (especially to such a party that you just stumbled upon on the net)... whether it is a legit business? Whether you will get what you have paid for?

But I clarified to Wani and friends that it is better for both myself and them (ie MyCupcakes' customers) to make it clear from the start that payment is to be made in full. This would avoid last min cancellation or non pick up when time and effort has been spent in baking and decorating the cupcakes. A new found friend has clearly documented her experience with this....

http://alisacuppies.blogspot.com/2009/07/hello-again.html

It is obvious and clear that once people have paid for something, they will make the effort to come and pick up their orders right? I don't mean to nag.... but it is meant to be a reminder to both myself and MyCupcakes' customers why we do and request for such a thing... It is a lot of work and time involved ya...

Insya Allah, God willing, I will always deliver... Insya Allah...

This is because I am of the firm believer that in this mini adventure that I am in, it is all based on faith and goodwill and the good name of MyCupcakes.... and once they are tarnished... and that is it... that would be the end of our adventure .....

Anyhow, I requested for Wani to send me some pictures of MyCupcakes' in action... to be placed here and here they are:

Thanks Wani and girls for the order...

Like the Sarawakians would say... "Iboh jerak aaaa" .....

Cupcakes for James

Remember Fiena peeps from my previous entry? Well, this time around she needs some lovely lovey lovey cupcakes from MyCupcakes to be given to her fiancee.... she gave some details that led to the following decoration.

She wanted 24 pieces of MyCupcakes to be individually packed into flat lit ind plastic packaging so it would be easier for her to carry all the way to KL. But the thing is I had to use a Med size cupcakes liner as to ensure that the deco is not ruined by the lid.

They both have blue coloured flush toy elephant:

Fiena calls him either Bear or Oppa:

Fiena's fiance loves Volkswagen:

And the lovey lovey part extreme would be a BEAR over the moon....

Thanks again Fiena for the order and enjoy the pictures!!

FIRST TRY FONDANT COVERED CAKE

When Zyzy first asked me whether I'd like the opportunity to make her a 2 tier fondant wedding cake for her wedding at end of this coming Dec and I was thrilled with the chance to do this and I was calm and my cake thoughts were collected cause I know I had time to practice until.... I got an email from Jun asking me to do this for her... for this coming end of Nov!!!

So I had to find time to practice and this is the result of my first attempt at trying to cover a whole cake with fondant:

Note: the flowers are ready made

It is first and foremost not an easy task bearing in mind that I have no formal training and that this is my first attempt!

I learnt a few things after the trial by asking my friend Ira about figuring out why certain things happened to my fondant cake and she told me that it is normal to go through several "disasters" first and that it take practice before you can actually get a really smooth fondant cake surface. At least this gave me more strength and boost to try again...

So when I sent the pic to Jun and later on had a talk with her, I told her I am going to do another trial to build my confidence for the actual event cake day. I repeatedly asked Jun whether she would want a 3 tier buttercream cake instead (like the one I did for Atikah)... but she knows what she wants.. the bride wants a 2 tier fondant cake... and that it is meant to be a gift from her cousin ... so what the bride wants the bride gets right? After all this is her special day ya!

Despite telling her my experience with the cake, she still want lil amateur me to do her wedding cake... as I said I am thrilled with the chance but scared silly about doing it!

So I told her that since I am going to KL and plan to go to one of those baking shops to buy those wonderful (but price-y) ready made flowers then will work out a quote based on her budget and... that's it peeps... am doing a 2 tier fondant cake as requested by our bride to be JUN.

Do pray peeps that my second attempt will be much better!

Will update you of course!
