Mas ordered MyCupcakes' chocolate cake and requested that the base of the cake is to be purple in colour... to use the image provided by her (edible image)... a Mickey Mouse figurine ... and the wordings "QOID AKMAL IZZ-ZIKRI TURNS 1".

Apparently the "purple" bit is for her as it is also her birthday and a double celebration for her son turning 1 year old.

So this is what I came up with... enjoy the pictures!!! :)

Wedding Cake for Wiwie & Rudie - Kompleks Dewan Majlis Islam @ 3.12.2011

Wiwie also requested for a wedding cake for her wedding reception. I was informed that it was going to be a purple themed wedding... and based on sample of pictures of cakes provided I came up with this design ... a bit of here and there .. a touch of this colour here and there.. somehow at the end everything falls into place... bliss...

... and I was particularly happy when I saw the pelamin... can you see how the cake somehow beautifully
blends into the theme and background.. Alhamdulilah ....

... and those are handmade roses... the huge butterflies and flower fillers are bought ready made ...

After I have finished arranging the cupcakes and placing the last touches on the cake (ie the butterflies)
I actually went to the florist to get some roses...
I wanted to spread those lovely petals to compliment the whole look..
then only I was fully satisfied with the whole ensemble and look! :)

am really pleased with the butterflies.. somehow it added a feel of completion to the cake ...

bye-bye my labour of love ... what a beautiful cake you have been :)

Doorgift for Wiwie and Rudie - Kompleks Dewan Majlis Islam @ 3.12.2011

Wiwie's mom calls my late mom as "Udak" or aunty.. which means we're both cousins and Wiwie would somehow be ranked as my "niece"... these family tree arrangement is a bit difficult when your mom is no longer around to confirm whether you got them correct or not .... So I was quite happy when Wiwie wanted me to make these doorgifts for her wedding reception as sometimes this is the only occasion when you actually meet your other family members... and when you actually take an order from a family member it is indeed quite nerve wrecking and you would want to do the best of your abilities right?

Well, I made the following as a doorgift for Wiwie and Rudie's wedding reception at Kompleks Dewan Majlis Islam Kuching @ 3.12.2011.

1200 pieces to be exact (but I gave some extras for "just in case" cases - accidents/mishandling of cupcakes/plus there will always be some kids wanted to have some cupcakes right ;).

Swirl design with silver/purple dredges and individually packed in plastic casing with dome lid cover.

Simple, classy and chic!

MyCupcakes' first 5 tier wedding cake and the venue is at BAU!!!

My dear Peeps...

Remember I said I wanted to keep the entry(ies) simple... but for this entry, I HAVE to make an exception...

This is my first time making a 5 tier fondant wedding cake and the venue is all the way at BAU!!! What an experience it was!!

When my sister told me that her friend wanted a 5 tier fondant wedding cake... I jumped at the chance of doing it.. but when she told me that the venue is at BAU... my heart sank for awhile.. driving all the way up to BAU with 5 cakes and assembling the cakes there... SCARY!!! but nonetheless I was up to the challenge!!!

So here it is peeps.. our very first 5 tier fondant wedding cake :)

Basic summary of the whole surreal experience:

busy at work.. hall was warm...
the cake was already sweating when we were putting the final touches and working on/assembling the cakes...

it's only 6pm (function starts at 8) but guests have started arriving...

1. function was held at Kpg Sg Siput Bau (1hr drive from kch)
2. function was suppose to start at 8.. but by 6 guests were already arriving..
3. the table for the cake was set up on the stage and there were spotlight glaring and focused on the stage - note the musical instruments at the back
4. no air cond in the hall
5. re spotlight and non air cond hall: very warm hall/humid condition - and not so good for fondant work...
6. stomach and heart were tied in a knot until the cutting cake ceremony was completed ...

... but i sure learnt a lot from completing this order! still have a loooong way to go but I just love doing this..

Ok, this is actually the second angry bird I did (the first one was made for Kak Norisa for her bday) ... Adyan's cousin was celebrating his bday and wanted an angry bird cake and so Leen ordered this for me as bday gift from Adyan to his cousin...

To tell you the truth at this point in time, I couldn't possibly and didn't understand the angry bird craze going about this time (because I have never played the game before) .. and still is... so this angry bird was done solely based on the pictures I found on the net without actually knowing the full extent of the game.. the look of it etc... (which eventually lead to a better version of angry bird cakes - both I did for Adyan and Syafiq ie:

Kak Adlin has always trusted in MyCupcakes to make cakes and cupcakes to be part of the wonderful celebrations in her life and this time around it is to celebrate Adriana Batrisyia's 6th birthday at school.

And... I thought what better way (Which is exactly why my sister told me that I don't make a good businesswoman.. which is true.. but then I am in the business of making people happy right.. so if my customers are happy then I am happy... so everyone's happy... so it is a wonderful cycle... and I am a firm believer that.. the more you give.. the more you will receive.. and that is how life should be:)

Anyways... I made her a 13" vanilla with chocolate chip cake (that is the biggest cake I can fit into my fridge - otherwise I would have made her a bigger one hehe) and the theme as requested - garden theme ..

Dear Peeps...

I know I know.. it has been awhile since I last updated my blog... I have been updating my work but only done vide my facebook's albums... but it won't be fair without sharing my work all the while with my fellow followers and those are new to my blog... and I do understand how thrilling it is for my customers to see their names and their order published online... feels like a celebrity don't you think... :)

MyCupcakes' first Adult Cake *blush blush

Deborah, who is my junior back in school ( .... I love the fact that MyCupcakes somehow brings old friends together ... am indeed blessed ...), wanted to order an "adult cake" to celebrate her husband's birthday and apparently it was like a covert operation trying to ensure the success of the surprise cake for him...

When she first told me about the "adult cake" involving b**bs.. the first thing that comes to mind (as much as I was excited ... slightly guarded ... about making an adult cake).. it must be tastefully done ya...

So this is what I came up with for Deb... she loved it .. and later on she text-ex me that the bday boy loved it.. and that is all that matters..

Loved how the "shawl" compliments the cake

The shawl MUST be added .. to ensure that the cake was decorated in a tasteful manner..

This angle was taken to show a tiny peek of the hmmm... well you know what I mean...

Zairin came all the way from KL to spend the day (11.4) with me in Kuching ... for our makan-makan plan..... and it was also to celebrate her birthday which was the day (10.4) before.. so and but of course I told her I would make her a birthday cake.... I baked her some cupcakes for makan-makan and also to bring back to KL for the little ones...

Whenever I attend to any orders, be it small or large orders.. (in this case the order was MyCupcakes' minimum 16 pieces of cupcakes) ... I will always bake extra (for emergency purposes/once my order is completed - for makan2 at home) ...

When Kak Aishah posted on her fb wall that it was her daughter's birthday, I thought it'd be nice to give the birthday girl some cupcakes to celebrate her big day... got home from work, whipped up some deco and again... taddaaaa.... there you go..

see that little one there... who just simply couldnt wait to eat the cake..
luckily the cake made it to bday grandma in one piece...

Erwin called me at work telling me that that day (13/4) was her mom's bday ... so the first thing that crossed my mind was... "Luckily there is a cake in the house for me to deco" :) Alhamdulillah...

So once I got home from work, I whipped some buttercream and decorated an 8" vanilla cake and tadaaaa...
there you go... one birthday cake ready for mum in law dearest..

Happy birthday mummy... thank you for being such a wonderful mother in law to me and grandma to my kids... May your life be blessed with the grace and blessings of Allah swt...
